The first concern is the hybrid battery. Early models had NiMH and later had Lithium. NiMH - What is the lifespan in years and/or mileage? - What does it cost to replace in SA? - Or do they rebuild it by replacing he cells? - Can one replace it with the lithium version or there are incompatibilities? How do I know whether the battery is tired when viewing a used vehicle? Research says that the CRZ has an auto start/stop feature that cannot be switched off but that it will switch itself off when there is a problem. I drove a 2010 CRZ the other day and it had no apparent start/stop feature. Is that then an indication that the battery is vrot…? The battery showed complete flat when we started to drive and 5 minutes later should about 70% capacity. That seems too fast and possibly also an indication of a vrot battery. If the battery is totally dead, tired, vrot, will the car still drive? Can it be driven like this indefinitely? Will the battery and regen system that actually start becoming a hindrance, drag, and unnecessary load on the vehicle?
