What Goes On the Invoice

Every used engine and gearbox is invoiced with the donor vehicle recorded against it — the mileage it came off and what we know of its history. That is not paperwork for its own sake. It tells you what you are buying, it tells your mechanic what to expect, and it is the document the warranty runs from. Keep it somewhere safe. The warranty applies from the invoice date and covers the unit itself, and without that date on paper there is nothing to measure it against.

Compression Tested Before It Leaves the Yard

The D-series motors that fill so many older Civics and Ballades are honest engines, but a used one is only worth buying if somebody has actually checked it. Every engine is compression tested before despatch and we will tell you the readings. Five-speed manual gearboxes get turned through every gear on the bench and checked for bearing noise and synchro wear before they are wrapped. Clutch kits, pressure plates and release bearings are supplied to match the box rather than assumed — worth doing while the gearbox is out, because getting back in there later costs more in labour than the kit does. Smaller electrical items are function tested where there is a way to test them, and panels are checked for filler and hidden rust.

Fitment Is the Workshop's Job

Worth being plain about. Our warranty covers the part; it does not cover how it was fitted. An engine that is put in with a badly timed belt, or a gearbox mated up without the correct clutch alignment, has not failed — it has been broken. Use a mechanic who knows Hondas for any engine or gearbox work, and for anything needing coding. If you need a CR-V used parts, send the year and the engine code and we will match it to your build.
