The Hondas that come to our counter most often are the Ballade, the Civic and the Brio. Plenty of the 1990s Ballade spares we sell come off cars that were assembled here in South Africa, and the D16A 1.6 out of those is a motor we still strip regularly — along with the manual gearbox behind it, the drive shafts and the front sheet metal. At the other end of the yard the Brio keeps a lot of first cars on the road, and its L12B 1.2 is small enough that a customer can carry the head off the counter in one trip.
Bring the Old Part With You
The single best thing you can do before driving out here is to take the broken part off the car and put it in the boot. Laid side by side on the counter, a fitment question that would take twenty minutes on the phone is settled in seconds — bracket positions, plug orientation, spline count, pulley offset. Bring the VIN too, and the engine code stamped into the block if the job is mechanical. Honda changed details mid-generation more than once, so the code on the block tells us more than the year on the licence disc does.
Counter Hours and Paying
The counter is open 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday. Cash, card and EFT are all fine, and every used part is checked and tested before it goes out. If you are collecting something heavy — a complete engine, a gearbox, a bonnet — phone 078 574 3998 first so it is off the stand and ready when you pull in, and bring a bakkie or a trailer. You can also work through our used Honda engines beforehand, and if you are coming across from Soweto the run down the Golden Highway is a short one.

Not everyone can leave a workshop or a job to fetch a part, and that is what the delivery side is for.
