Honda Spares in Soweto
Soweto keeps more older Hondas on the road than anywhere else we deliver to — Ballades and Civics still doing the commute and the school run twenty years after the showroom. Good used parts are what keeps them viable, and that is the business we are in.
Used, new and aftermarket components — not produced by the original vehicle manufacturer.
What a Repair Should Actually Cost a Soweto Honda Owner
Soweto keeps more older Hondas on the road than anywhere else we deliver to. Across Diepkloof, Orlando East and West, Meadowlands, Dobsonville, Pimville, Klipspruit, Naledi, Jabavu and Protea, the Ballade and the Civic are still doing the commute, the school run and the weekend trip — often twenty years after they left the showroom. Those cars stay viable because good used parts cost a fraction of new dealer stock. That is the whole economics of it, and it is the business we are in.
But used is not automatically the right answer, and we will say so. The question we ask every caller is what the part is actually doing wrong. A radiator that is weeping at a seam can often be re-cored for less than a replacement, and a re-cored original with new tanks will outlast a tired used one. A radiator with a rotted core and eaten fins is past it — buy a good used unit and move on. The Civic spares range is our deepest line for exactly this kind of repair-or-replace decision.
Cylinder Heads: Skim It or Swap It
Heads are where the decision matters most, because getting it wrong costs you the labour twice. On a D16A 1.6 out of a Ballade or Civic, a head that has simply blown a gasket and is otherwise straight is usually worth skimming and re-seating the valves — you keep a part with a history you know. Once it is cracked between the seats, or it has already been skimmed to the limit, a documented used head is the cheaper and safer buy. Bring us what the machine shop told you and we will give you a straight view. Have a look at the used cylinder heads we currently carry.
The Newer Small Cars — Brio and Amaze
The Brio and the Amaze are becoming common on Soweto streets, and they change the calculation slightly. Both run the L12B 1.2 i-VTEC, a small, willing motor that rarely needs anything internal. What they do need is ancillaries and cooling parts — radiators, fans, water pumps, thermostats — and lights and panels after a knock. The Amaze is essentially a Brio with a boot, so mechanical parts cross between them freely, which widens what we can find you. Sedan-specific boot and rear panels are the exception; those we match to the exact car.
Ordering From Soweto
Everything ships by courier from our single yard in Lenasia South, roughly sixteen kilometres away. Send the VIN and a photo of the part, and we will quote new, used and aftermarket together so you can see the trade-off rather than take our word for it. Payment is cash, card or EFT. Start from the full model and category index if you would rather browse first, or ring 078 574 3998 during trading hours. If you happen to be passing through Lenasia, the yard is right there.
