Brakpan holds on to its cars. Ballades and Civics from the 1990s and early 2000s are still doing daily duty around Brenthurst, Dalpark and Minnebron, and they are long past the point where the agents carry anything for them. When the dealer network stops supporting a model, used-original becomes the practical route — often the only route — to a straight panel or a motor that runs. That is the trade we are in. A used part from a documented donor is a very different thing to a used part with no story attached. D-Series Motors and the Locally Assembled Ballade

The 1990s Ballade was assembled here in South Africa, which is part of why so many are still going — parts moved locally for years and the cars were built for local conditions. Underneath, most of what we ship to Brakpan is D-series: the D15B 1.5 and the D16A 1.6, plus the five-speed manuals bolted to them. Heads, inlet manifolds, distributors, alternators and starters for those engines come off donor cars regularly. Panels: What We Have and What We Honestly Do Not

We would rather be straight with you about bodywork. Bonnets, front fenders, doors and light units for the later Civics and the Jazz turn up often enough that we can usually source one within a week or two. Panels for the 1990s Ballade are a different matter — those cars have been picked over for twenty-odd years, and a clean, rust-free fender or an unclouded headlight for one is genuinely scarce. If we do not have it we will say so on the day rather than string you along for a fortnight. Sometimes the honest answer is that a panel beater straightening the original is the better call.

Everything ships by courier from our yard at 666 Cromwell Street, Lenasia South — that is our only premises, and Brakpan is served from there. Used engines and gearboxes are compression-tested or bench-checked first, with the donor mileage on the invoice; smaller electrical parts are function-tested where we can.
