Most are K24Z 2.4 petrols, but the RM generation was the only CR-V ever sold locally with a diesel — the N22B 2.2 i-DTEC — and those owners have the hardest time finding anything at all. We strip both. On the all-wheel-drive cars, Real Time AWD propshafts and rear differentials are a regular Lowveld request, because a driveline that has done years of corrugations eventually tells you about it through a hum or a vibration. Civic and Ballade make up most of the rest of what goes out this way.

Cooling, and the Rubber the Heat Destroys

Radiators and hoses are the other half of the Lowveld order book. A radiator that copes fine on the Highveld can be marginal in the valley in high summer with a load on, and a hose that has spent five of those summers down there is usually one thermal cycle away from letting go. Air and oil filters from the filters and maintenance range move for the same reason — dust and heat shorten every service interval the book gives you. Used radiators are leak-tested before they go in a box. Used hoses we simply scrap, because nobody should be fitting second-hand rubber.
