Cape Town is our biggest coastal market, and the reason is simpler than most people expect: the cars we strip have spent their whole lives inland. A door skin off a Gauteng Jazz has never sat in salt air. That single difference is why a Cape panel beater will happily pay to have a bonnet or a sill railed down from Johannesburg rather than take one off a local donor that looks sound until the paint comes off it. Parts leave our Lenasia South yard on an overnight service for anything small enough to travel in a bag.

The yard is in Lenasia South, Johannesburg, roughly 1,400 km by road from the Cape. Sensors, lights, trim and filters go overnight. Engines, gearboxes, doors and tailgates go on a pallet by road freight, which takes a couple of working days longer but keeps the cost sensible and keeps the consignment insured for its declared value the whole way down.

How We Grade a Panel, Honestly

Rust-free is a phrase people throw around, so here is how we use it. Every panel is graded before it goes on the shelf — A is straight and clean with sound paint, B has minor dings or a stone-chipped edge a panel beater will sort out in an hour, C is structurally fine but needs work. Sills, door bottoms and boot floors get checked from the inside as well, because that is where corrosion actually starts. Before anything leaves for the Cape we photograph the exact panel you are buying and send the picture through, so you are agreeing to the part in front of you rather than to a description. If what arrives does not match the photo, it comes back. The same approach applies right through our body panels and exterior parts range.

What the Cape Orders Most

Honda Jazz parts lead the list by a distance. The GD, GE and GK generations are everywhere in the Western Cape, and between them they cover the L15A 1.5, Magic Seats and the rest of the interior trim that Cape sun and coastal damp tend to finish off first. The CR-V runs a close second, mostly for suspension and body work, with the Civic and Ballade behind it.
